  • NOTICE: November 2, 2018. Earlier this year ROSES program element D.7 K2 GO was solicited "contingent on the spacecraft health and fuel condition". Since the Kepler space telescope has run out of fuel needed for further science operations, this opportunity is being removed from ROSES. For more information see https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasa-retires-kepler-space-telescope-passes-planet-hunting-torch. Although the mission operations of Kepler/K2 have ceased, science using archival data will still be solicited in ROSES-2019, primarily via program element D.2 Astrophysics Data Analysis, but also via program elements E.3 the Exoplanets Research Program and D.4 the Astrophysics Theory Program.
  • NOTICE: Amended on July 10, 2018. In response to the drop in fuel pressure observed during Campaign 18, this amendment postpones the Phase-1 deadline of K2 GO Cycle 7 from July 19 to August 16, 2018. This enables the submission of target proposals for K2 Campaign 20 to be delayed until after the successful start of Campaign 19 is confirmed near August 9. All other dates remain unchanged.
  • NOTICE: Amended on May 31, 2018. This amendment releases the final text for this program element. Contingent on the spacecraft health and fuel condition, K2 is soliciting proposals for Guest Observer (GO) Cycle 7 targets. Owing to the limited amount of spacecraft fuel remaining, Cycle 7 is comprised of Campaign 20 only. Similar to the selection process executed for K2 GO Cycle 6, an optional Phase-1 proposal (see Section 7.1.1) will enable targets to be selected for Campaign 20. Phase-1 proposals, including target tables and a scientific rationale (both submitted via email to keplergo@mail.arc.nasa.gov), are requested by July 19, 2018. If the spacecraft health and fuel allow, then Phase-2 proposals (see Section 7.1.2) will be due January 17, 2019 (via NSPIRES). Phase-2 proposals are limited to use observations for targets which have been selected as part of Phase-1, the selection results of which will be published in September 2018 at http://keplerscience.arc.nasa.gov. The monitoring of the spacecraft status will be updated periodically at: http://keplerscience.arc.nasa.gov.
  • The description of the specific proposal opportunity on this page is contained in the document 'D.7 K2 Cycle 7'. The document 'D.1 Astrophysics Research Program Overview' describes research activities within the NASA science division that is managing the specific proposal opportunity on this page and may impose requirements upon proposals submitted to this program element. The document 'Summary of Solicitation' describes the common requirements for all ROSES-2018 proposal opportunities. The documents 'Table 2' and 'Table 3' contain the list of all proposal opportunities and their due dates. All of these documents are kept up to date and incorporate amendments, clarifications, and corrections in a clearly identifiable manner.
