  • October 15, 2021. Subsection 1.2.4, "Laboratory Astrophysics" of D.3 Astrophysics Research and Analysis has been clarified. New text is in bold and deleted text is struck through. Regarding the removal of the reference to exoplanetary systems, it had already been noted, in Section 1.2 "Categories of Proposals" that "This program element excludes proposals for investigations that are in scope of the Exoplanet Research Program", so this is not a change in scope. Due dates remain unchanged: Notices of Intent to propose are requested by November 19, 2021, and the proposal deadline remains December 16, 2021, predicated on the release of the 2020 Decadal Survey of Astronomy and Astrophysics at least 30 days prior.
  • NOTICE: Amended September 24, 2021. This amendment updates the text, changes the Notice of Intent (NOI) from mandatory to requested, and delays the NOI due date for this program element. A NOI is now requested by November 19, 2021; the proposal deadline remains December 16, 2021, predicated on the release of the 2020 Decadal Survey of Astronomy and Astrophysics at least 30 days prior. Should the Decadal Survey not be released by November 15, NASA may amend this solicitation to delay the due date. For ROSES-2021 only, a NOI is encouraged but not required for submission of a proposal to this program element; see Section 2.4. These changes give proposers more time to appropriately target their proposals to this program element or Strategic Astrophysics Technology (program element D.7). This amendment also provides clarifications on the Data Management Plan and on the range of availability for balloon-borne payloads. New text is in bold and deleted text is struck through.
  • The description of the specific proposal opportunity on this page is contained in the document 'D.3 Astrophysics Research and Analysis'. The document 'D.1 Astrophysics Research Program Overview' describes research activities within the NASA science division that is managing the specific proposal opportunity on this page and may impose requirements upon proposals submitted to this program element. The document 'Summary of Solicitation' describes the common requirements for all ROSES-2021 proposal opportunities. The document ‘Table 1’ contains the proposal check list from the Summary of Solicitation. The documents 'Table 2' and 'Table 3' contain the list of all proposal opportunities and their due dates, sorted by (Step-2) proposal due date or appendix number, respectively. All of these documents are kept up to date and incorporate amendments, clarifications, and corrections in a clearly identifiable manner.
