  • Amended March 24, 2023. The scope of Special Topic 2 Investigations has been broadened to include studies of plasma signatures of space debris beyond LEO, such as the near-Sun or planetary environments, see Section 1.1.2.2. Clarifications were also made to Sections 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, and 2.4. The points of contact for this program have changed. New text is in bold and deleted text is struck through. The due dates have been reset: Step-1 proposals are due April 25, 2023, and Step-2 proposals are due June 23, 2023 Proposals submitted to this program will be evaluated using a modified dual-anonymous review process. The modified DAPR process affects only the approach by which potential institutional conflicts of interest are managed in the review process. The modification has no impact on the way proposals are to be prepared/anonymized by the proposers. Proposals must still be prepared according to the guidelines in Section 2.4.2 and in the associated "Guidelines for Anonymous Proposals" document under "Other Documents" on the NSPIRES page for this program element. Each PI may submit one and only one proposal to this program. There is no longer an exception for multiple submissions per PI that involve Science PIs. All proposers are strongly encouraged to use the standard Heliophysics template for Current and Pending Support (for the PI and all Co-Is, regardless of time commitment) and the Open Science Data Management Plan template see https://science.nasa.gov/researchers/templates-heliophysic-division-appendix-b-roses-proposals.
  • NOTICE: March 21, 2023. A significant change is coming to the text of this program element within the next month and the due dates will be reset to give proposers time to respond. Given the nearness of the current Step-1 proposal due date, this program element has been temporarily changed to TBD. Step-1 proposals that have been started or submitted will not be lost and may be modified once the new text is released, if necessary.
  • The description of the specific proposal opportunity on this page is contained in the document 'B.2 Heliophysics Supporting Research'. The document B.1 Heliophysics Research Program Overview' describes research activities within the NASA science division that is managing the specific proposal opportunity on this page and may impose requirements upon proposals submitted to this program element. The document 'Summary of Solicitation' describes the common requirements for all ROSES-2023 proposal opportunities. The document 'Table 1' contains the proposal check list from the Summary of Solicitation. The documents 'Table 2' and 'Table 3' contain the list of all proposal opportunities and their due dates, sorted by (full or Step-2) proposal due date or appendix number, respectively. All of these documents are kept up to date and incorporate amendments, clarifications, and corrections in a clearly identifiable manner.
  • March 8, 2023. The point of contact for B.2 Heliophysics Supporting Research has been changed to Patrick Koehn. Contact information has been updated in the text to B.2. The due dates remain unchanged: Step-1 proposals are due March 28, 2023.
