• NOTICE: Amended March 20, 2023. The amendment adds this new program element to ROSES-2023. No preliminary statement (such as a notice of intent or a step-1 proposal) is requested. This program element does not have a proposal due date. Proposals may be submitted at any time, pending certain eligibility timing issues related to resubmissions and duplicate proposal avoidance, see Section 2.4 below and C.1 Planetary Science Research Program Overview. The Science/Technical/Management (S/T/M) section of proposals is limited to five pages. Optionally, an additional page is allowed for describing a Planetary Science Division (PSD) mission of interest (see Section 2.6). Neither NSPIRES cover page budgets nor detailed budgets are requested at the time of proposal submission (see Section 3.1). However, proposals should limit costs to within the cap ($75,000/year). After review, selected teams will be paired with PSD missions to co-create a revised Statement of Work and finalized budget. No Open Science Data Management Plan is required for this program element (see Section 3.7).

The date shown above of 3/29/2024 is the last day that proposals may be submitted here, subject to the ROSES-23 rules and the current Guidebook for Proposers. The ROSES-24 version of this program element is planned to overlap with this ROSES-23 version by a few weeks, allowing continuous submission of proposals across ROSES years.

The document 'C.1 Planetary Science Research Program Overview' describes research activities within the NASA science division that is managing the specific proposal opportunity on this page and may impose requirements upon proposals submitted to this program element. The document 'Table 1' contains the proposal check list from the Summary of Solicitation. The documents 'Table 2' and 'Table 3' contain the list of all proposal opportunities and their due dates, sorted by (full or Step-2) proposal due date or appendix number, respectively. All of these documents are kept up to date and incorporate amendments, clarifications, and corrections in a clearly identifiable manner.
